PNC Foundation Awards Grant

McGovern-Stella Link

A $45,000 grant from the PNC Foundation will transform areas within the McGovern-Stella Link and Alice McKean Young Neighborhood Libraries into Family Place Libraries™.  This money will allow staff at each community library to receive specialized training and expand programs focused on toddlers and their caregivers.

TECHLink Dixon Grand Opening powered by Aramco

TECHLink Dixon

The opening of the TECHLink Dixon was celebrated via a virtual ribbon-cutting ceremony with special guests. The TECHLink Dixon powered by Aramco comes from a $1.6 million donation from the company to fully fund the rebuilding of the building which was closed for renovation and damaged beyond repair from Hurricane Harvey.

Houston Is Looking for Its Next Poet Laureate

Houston Poet Laureate

Mayor Sylvester Turner and Houston Public Library (HPL) are pleased to announce the search for the City of Houston’s next poet laureate. The Poet Laureate will receive an honorarium of $20,000 through the City Initiative Grant Program of the City of Houston and will serve from April 2021 through April 2023. The deadline to apply is midnight on February 25, 2021. Flores Neighborhood Library Virtual Grand Reopening

Flores Neighborhood Library

The Houston Public Library is celebrating the grand reopening of the Flores Neighborhood Library after it closed four years ago following heavy flooding and damages caused by Hurricane Harvey. United Arab Emirates (UAE) generous $800,000 donation was part of their citywide Harvey reconstruction campaign and allowed the Flores Library to undergo a substantial transformation.

Houston Public Library kicked off 2021 with a virtual celebration of McCrane-Kashmere Gardens Neighborhood Library reopening with special guest, a ribbon cutting ceremony and a virtual tour showcasing the newly remodeled facility.
